Why do liberals still want special rights for groups of people?

Question by Drunk: Why do liberals still want special rights for groups of people?
Two wrongs don’t make a right. Gays are free to marry, yet they want special priviledge for same sex. Minorities are free to work, yet they are given special hiring quotas. Nearly every Terrorist is Muslim, yet we want to touch Grandpa Sven’s 70 year old junk. Why do we make all these special rights for people?

“Gays are free to marry, yet they want special priviledge for same sex.”
-If same sex marriage were recognized to the same extent opposite sex marriage is, straight and those of other sexual orientations would have the same right to marry a person of the same sex as gay people would.

“Minorities are free to work, yet they are given special hiring quotas.”
The general idea of affirmative action is that it creates a more equal employment opportunity by addressing existing inequalities. Of course, this idea is still controversial, and even many those in favor of it believe the policy is imperfect. This policy certainly gives some job applicants an advantage, depending on where and when they apply. However, all applicants must still meet the minimum requirements of the position they apply for. People of minority status aren’t automatically guaranteed a right to their preferred jobs.

“Nearly every Terrorist is Muslim, yet we want to touch Grandpa Sven’s 70 year old junk”
Assuming your statement that nearly every terrorist is a Muslim is correct, how can we identify, without fail, a person’s religion? There’s no scan for it right now. I don’t understand why you’re attributing this to “special rights.”
